Since Setsuka was the Sakurzukamori and her son Seishirou was to be the heir, she knew that he would have to kill her to become it. Before she died, she told him that it was her destiny to die by the hand of the person she loved the most, just as he will. The Sakurazukamori is supposed to feel no love, and Seishiriou points this out to her, claiming that he'll never love anyone. She tells him that she too believed that to be true before she met him. Just as her prophecy said he killed her when he was 15. Feeling nothing for her before or afterwards, and certainly no regret, Seishirou shoved his hand through her heart under the camellia tree that she so loved, letting her die to become the shadow onmyouji of Japan, the most powerful clan along with the Sumeragi.
